Supporting mental health for creatives
Working as a creative in the creative industry can be so rewarding but it also brings with it many ups and downs that can affect our mental health. There are some really common day-to-day challenges we creatives all face, so we’re here to let you know you’re not alone, with resources and merchandise to support mental health awareness.
CREATIVE BLOCK
NOBODY FEELS CREATIVE everyday
Creating is so rewarding but we’ve all stared at the blank screen or page, feeling just as blank with our ideas. When you’re supposed to deliver groundbreaking creative work every day it’s easy to hit a wall. But don’t despair, it’s just our overworked creative muscle telling us we need to stop, do something else and recharge.
IMPOSTER SYNDROME
Unpull the wool
“The irony of Imposter Syndrome is that the more successful you get, the more you feel you’ve pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes.” Tanya Livesey, creative careers expert.
An incredible 7 out of 10 people will experience Imposter Syndrome at some point in their lives! This statistic tells us all that perhaps we need to cut ourselves some slack, because we probably are talented after all and we’re certainly not alone.
CONFIDENCE
Don’t
knock it
Creative careers naturally invite self doubt because we put our work out for criticism every day. Failing is learning and critiques can (and should) be constructive, but it doesn’t always feel that way. On the plus side we’re natural learners who are constantly exploring and improving, so when we know our own strengths and build on what we love doing we can find that inner confidence.
BURNOUT
Creative sparks fly
Working long hours to high pressure deadlines is still the reality for a lot of creatives, so you’re not alone in experiencing mental and creative burnout. Creative wellbeing is something our industry is fortunately taking more seriously, but spending some time doing what makes you happy can also help you recover and find that creative spark again.

ISOLATION
CREATIVE ISOLATION
We all know the image of the artist, shut away in a room, manically creating their masterpiece, but when creativity is your day-to-day job, working alone is really only a small part in the creative process. Bouncing ideas off your peers, reaching out for support, seeing friends and family - these are all ways to enrich your world and keep the creative energy alive.
